M had been looking forward to this for weeks. Heck, before school was out, he had invited all his friends to come with us! Our little family, along with Mimi and Grandma B were going camping for 3 nights. We rented a cabin at
Potato Creek State Park and it could not have been a better decision. It was a modern cabin with 2 bedrooms, a bathroom (of course), a kitchen and a screened in porch that made evenings truly enjoyable. We stayed out all day and could come back to dinner, baths and good sleep...recharged and ready for the next day.

The boys got right into nature, removed some clothes, and got to playing. We went before the real heat of the summer hit us, but it was still hot!
After dinner, baths, and lots of rocking with Mimi, the boys passed out. Day 1 was going to start off with a visit to the beach!

Mommy didn't bring much in the way of sand toys, so we made do with plastic cups and spoons...

Then we mixed up some ice cream and kicked and rolled that ball down to the playground.

All day, M kept asking us when we were going to camp? To which we replied, "We are camping!" After dinner, when we told him we were going to head down to the fire pit to make s'mores, he yelled out..."THAT'S camping!" Who knew?! Needless to say, s'mores making and eating were a real highlight for the boys...

After s'mores, M took it upon himself to start some running races with E. They would pretend to whistle by sticking their finger in their mouth and humming/blowing (so funny) and they were off!

Day 2 called for a nature hike. There were things to collect, snakes to see and beautiful views.

The rest of our day was filled with naps under giant maple trees, games, playground time and more s'mores! Full days and lots of memories made. I call that a success!
