Giraffes Can't Dance.

King Arts puts a real emphasis on the fine arts and today, Ellis had his kindergarten share...Giraffes Can't Dance. It was dramatic, full of dance and song, and as adorable as you imagine a pile of kindergartners are on stage. He was highlighted as a Rock 'n Roll Rhino.

Please note this amazing pose.

last day of kindergarten

Here we go! The last day of kindergarten. M has grown and learned and changed so much in the last 9 months. Here's a picture to prove it.

more mature with 2 less teeth.

Among other things, the biggest milestones M reached was learning to read and tie his shoes. His level of independence and responsibility improved this year by leaps and bounds. Which is to say I'm not missing so much stuff (hats, jackets) so often by the time he hops off the bus. Speaking of that, this big boy rides the bus with no fear and often times at our local playgrounds, he'll yell out, "Hey, there's (fill in the blank)!" He knows everyone and they seem to know him! There isn't a soul he doesn't count as a friend and (like his mommy) wants to include all of them in all of our activities.

This summer will not be jam packed, but we've got camp, activities, and vacations to work in, for sure. First up is camp. While his classmates area all playing baseball, soccer or football this summer, M is proud to be attending gymnastics camp. Finally a sport he's excited about. I think camp will either make it or break it for him. Only to say that camp will really show him if he wants to continue. (This former gymnast mommy secretly hopes he does). There's also been a lot of talk about playing the violin lately. I've got a little work to do here to get him going on that.

So, like any other day, M hopped right on the bus with Miss Adalia. She is/was the most wonderful bus driver and such a comfort to this rookie mom in letting go a little.

8 hours later... M crossed the finish line from kindergarten into summer!

Woo Hoo!!

Q & U got married...

...formal wear was required. I decided to go all out hipster with M. Upon seeing these pictures, I fear that I may have crossed the fine line into nerdy. I'm positive that someday he'll ask why his pants are pulled up so high in this picture. To which I will reply, "But don't you look so handsome!"

kindergarten playdate and program

Kindergarten parents put together an afternoon play date in the park for the kids and their parents during school, complete with fruit, popsicles, and lots of fun. It was a crazy mess of 60-some kindergartners, siblings and parents, but everyone had a great time.

M and his best friend, Alexander.

This was his first Flav-or-ice popsicle. Little guy had to be shown how to eat it!

M, Alex, Jesse, Immanuel, & Cole

After the playdate, the kids put on quite a show for all the parents. Each class performed according to one of their specials (drama, dance, or music). Mrs. Ransom's class had music and performed a surprising mash up of ABC and You Keep Me Hangin' On. We were impressed...and bow ties and boas??? So perfect.
