Finally - a chance to breathe...

The house in Prairie Village officially belongs to someone else! Everything went well on Thursday and we hope the new owners enjoy that house as much as we did.

Here is where we live now.

Downtown is about 10 miles south and that is Lake Michigan on the right. Here is a closer view of our building.

We are right on the outskirts of Northwestern's campus, just a couple of blocks from lots of shops and parks.

Most rooms aren't 100% finished. Everything is put away, but I haven't decided on decorations yet. I don't want to post pictures until they are done, but we are organized and functioning quite well. Andrew is riding the train into work everyday and Morgan and I can walk to almost everywhere we want to go. It is definitely a new way to live. We were able to get rid of Andrew's car because of all this too!

Morgan was a real trooper through the moving process and chaos that came with it. He did great on all the long car rides he took and has adjusted to his new home with flying colors. No problems or lost sleep whatsoever.

Sleepy baby.

We had a very short visit at Mimi's during the move. The Great Grams came to visit us and of course...brought me a Pizza King Pizza for lunch. You can't find that kind of pizza anywhere near Kansas City! It was a nice pause in our journey to Chicago. Morgan liked it too (the visit, not the pizza)...but not a big fan of grass on his toes.

Can't...touch...grass...with...feet...

We redecorated Morgan's room a bit when we arrived. We're all blue now! We also put a bed in there...so were ready for visitors.

I think he likes it! Thanks Mimi!

Now, we're learning our way around and ready to visit with old friends. It will be so nice to be close to family and friends again. We definitely missed that! Purdue football games anyone??

A few more pictures...

We're trying new foods now with all 6 of our teeth! mmm...bananas...

Fun in the Tub!

It's great being in Chicago!

Have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend everyone!

Whew! That's a HUGE relief. We close August 30. Now, we trade old stress for new because now, we pack, we move, we store! We've been doing this for a while now I suppose. Officially, the movers arrive to load our truck first thing Friday morning. Morgan and I will take off that morning too. Andrew and the kitties will start driving Friday evening with his dad and his sister and we'll be there by Saturday afternoon. Andrew will start his position in Chicago on Monday. It will be a whirlwind, but that seems to be how we always do it. Exciting times!

Packing stinks! 15 boxes and this is only part of the kitchen.

It has been HOT here lately. My lord...we're talking 106 degree heat indexes. It's hard to stand being outside for even a minute. It feels like we've been this way for weeks - and it's only gotten worse each year. I think we will see some relief soon though...

Today in KC - high temperature of 103.
Today in Chicago - high temperature of 81.

That sounds nice. I might not be so excited about the temperature difference in January...but man it is hot here today!

On the lighter side...dressing Morgan today was especially fun. I don't know why, but I always think of Gabe when I see this shirt in Morgan's closet. It was time to wear it. I think he might be channeling Gabe a little in this picture too. Curly mop...surf shirt...and Gabe's infamous photo pose.

Looking forward to seeing Auntie Grace and Uncle Gabe this weekend!

For those of you that haven't heard, we are on the move. Where to you might ask? The Windy City, The City of the Big Shoulders, Second City, Chi-town, The City by the Lake, The Big Onion, Paris on the Prairie...CHICAGO!

Andrew put in for a transfer to Chicago, knowing it could be as long as 8 months before something opened up. Three weeks later...something opened up. So - the house has been put up for sale and the moving truck has been reserved. We'll be leaving Kansas City behind in two weeks.

So we have some excuse to post a picture of Morgan, let's just say this picture was taken when asked what he thought about moving to Chicago.

Oh Boy! Oh Boy!

May 28, 2006

This will be a post of BIG news...this is your warning.

First of all...WE MOVED! Yes, we finally moved into our house on May 19 and as you all might suspect that was a serious endeavor. Cleaning, deliveries, and chores in general have taken up most of our time. A week later, things are put away and pictures are on the walls, so we have a few moments to breathe. Patti is loving her "kittytainment center", all the windows, and adjusted to the new environment quite well. As you can see here, Link likes the linen closet.

We got to plant some flowers in OUR yard and wash our cars in OUR driveway this weekend. It was liberating...no more apartment living for us! On that note, the guest bedroom is ready and waiting for visitors. Have I thrown around enough hints about this yet???

So...here's our second bit of BIG NEWS! Andrew and I are having a baby! We're due November 13. We decided to start a family at the beginning of this year and about 2 weeks after we closed on the house, we found out we were pregnant! Good timing? Right now we are at 16 weeks...with 24 to go! Our first trimester was as pleasant as you could hope for. I didn't have any morning sickness and other than being highly emotional and more tired than usual...nothing unbearable. We're in our second trimester now and I crave fruit and lots of it...as well as Taco Bell. I try to keep that one to a minimum though. We've started some pre-natal yoga classes and they are great! We had an ultrasound from the doctor in week 13...this is what we saw. I added a few little "cheats" to the picture so you all could see what things are.It was unreal to be able to see this little one moving around in there; of course he/she is still too small to feel anything. We saw and heard the heartbeat, 152 bpm, and the doctor said so far this baby gets an A+. Our next appointment is June 16 and then we'll find out if it is a boy or a girl. I have given up on non-maternity pants as my belly is starting to show a bit of a bump. Some day I do my hair, we'll take a picture and post it. We could not be more excited about the expected addition to our family. We'll keep you all aprised on the goings-on as they come about.

Didn't I say this was going to be a big year for the KC Witherspoons?
