things for M

It seems that most of my creativity (what little there seems to be of it, lately) is directed towards M and things for school. This time around it was the 100th day of school. When Andrew asked M what he wanted 100 of on his shirt, he replied..."100 octopus legs!" Well, ok!

We also needed some valentines for this guy, and between a couple of choices I gave him, this one won out. A glow stick was placed through a slit and under the handle, creating a light saber.

The boys made you something today...

We love you!

crafting valentine's day

Well, I suppose it's time to document all I made for this manufactured holiday...although I can't say I mind the surprises Andrew cooks up for me this time each year. Anyway, here are the goods...

I started off adding some vinyl to some $1 Target mailboxes for the boys. After all, you have to have a special place to put those Valentines. I just taped them to some candlesticks I already had to look a bit more like mailboxes.

Of course M needed Valentines to pass out at school. I gave him the choice of two designs and he chose (thankfully) the easier of the two. I found this printable here, but I added a couple little things. Then it was a simple matter of printing them off, cutting the slits and placing the sucker...easy. Look familiar? Last year was quite similar, and exactly what M wanted.

Hershey kisses never looked so fancy with some conversation hearts taped to the bottom...am I right? Get the free printable here.

We certainly cannot forget the sweet treats for Valentine's Day. I received a mini donut pan for Christmas, and deemed this the perfect time to break it in. I made these up for M's classroom party. Cute and delicious...

My biggest project/projects were ones I sent off to be enjoyed by truly deserving friends. We don't see each other enough, but I think of them often so I wanted to show them what they mean to me and what special place they hold in my heart.  Valentine's Day seemed a good enough excuse to me! The package has been delivered and opened, so I can post freely.

It started with the box.

Inside were three packages. The first was a Valentine banner for the adults of the house. My Silhouette did all the work here. I simply layered and taped with some paper doilies and little blue Byrds. (don't worry, I spelled that wrong on purpose)

Package 2 was for the little one that's in the works there. I whipped up some adorable fleece soled baby shoes. They turned out really well and they are so soft. I followed a tutorial provided here.

Last, but certainly not least, was package 3 for Big Sister. I found the cutest hoodie and used floss to embellish. I embroidered "You are Loved" around the waist, added some buttons and traced around a couple of the hearts to make it as special and unique as the little girl who will wear it.

There may or may not have been some of those conversation kisses tucked in there too...who knows?

I really enjoyed this holiday's parade of projects. Surprisingly, they turned out as planned and were well received by all their recipients. I believe M's exact words concerning the donuts were, "Oh my gosh, these look awesome!"

Happy Valentine's Day!

happy valentine's day!

I love that M got to pass out valentines this year. That's right...I loved it. This is what I made up this year for the little heart breaker.

Hope your Valentine's Day is SWEET!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Who doesn't love a good holiday craft? I'm almost excited to think about all the fun stuff I'll be able to do for M, E and their classmates when they get into school.

M was happy to find he had mail in his mail box...love letters from Mommy & Daddy...

...a small token, a BIG Mack! He is very happy about this.

& to top it off, Daddy made us pink, heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast.

Hope your Valentine's Day is just as sweet!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today, we had some friends over to have a Valentine's Day party! It was so much fun. The kids played and played, and the mommies talked and talked. We had a little craft time, and after that we all had something to eat. I prepared a heart shaped lunch for everyone with dessert, of course. The mommies had sinful brownies, while the kids had choco-cupcakes laced with spinach, blueberries and wheatgerm. I feel so sneaky sometimes.

This is the final product of M's craft time.

Here they are, making the sun catchers. Maeve, Maguire, M, and Adyson all had a great technique - grab fists full of the tissue paper and smash it onto the heart. All the kids were excited to take their hearts home for daddy.

Lunch time. These guys are so fun together.

After lunch, and before dessert, they all danced to the ABC song. Who knew?

Still dancing.

Now, for the sweet stuff. I got a picture of each munchkin with cupcake-face. I love how messy they all are at this age...and they don't care.

Miss Maeve. How did it get on her chin?

M went right in for the frosting on the top.

Maguire was the neatest one of the bunch. Um, there's a little something in your teeth.

Adyson takes her cupcake eating very seriously.

After this, there was a point where all four of them were running in circles around the house. I blame the frosting. Like I said, today was fun. Shortly after, it was time to go home for naps. They all got goodie bags and were on their way.
