he's a super runner...

...& every super runner needs...wings on his shoes! I just couldn't believe it when I saw these on etsy. As the mother of a self-proclaimed super runner, I was obligated to purchase these no matter the cost.

When they arrived, there was an excitement in M's eyes that let me know I nailed it. & those of you who know M might be surprised to see that his pants stayed on while he was being this super runner!

Leaping over puzzles in a single bound...& so fast, you can barely see him...right?

They work!

& then...it rained!

Today, playgroup ended with the sky opening up and pouring rain.  I mean, pouring.  We were all safely stowed under a pavillion in the playground but the bigger kids kind of inched their way out until they were having an all out, let's get soaking wet, run and play in the rain. As you can see, it.was.fun.

Clothes came off and smiles came out.
posted with her momma's permission.

Mother Nature smiled upon us by giving us a little reprieve so we could make the walk home...but really, she smiled upon us by giving us this wonderfully fun opportunity to do something new.  Today was good.

I don't mind this mess...

Every night after the baths have been taken, all the toys are picked up, and the babies are in bed, I look by the bathroom door and see this.

Looks like your standard pile of laundry, right?  Well, maybe...but to me, it is also a symbol of what I did that day.  I cared for and nurtured two little boys.  & it is only because of my wonderful husband, that can I do that.  I love seeing all the sizes of clothes mashed together in this pile.  It's almost like being able to remember the past and see into the future all at the same time.

So, I don't mind this mess.  It stays there until the morning, and only then do I put it in the hamper...just to start it all over again.

The post where I talk about a spoon.

My Cheerios spoon from my childhood.
Oh, yes...my mother held onto it.

We are quite the cereal aficionados (thank god for spell check) here in this home, and I can say that this is probably the best cereal spoon ever.  I think about that fact every time I get it out of the drawer.  It's got a nice shape and the milk to cereal ratio is perfect because of it.  I remember using it all the time as a kid...M uses it all the time now.  Thanks, mom.

Smoothie-time

About twice a week, M requests a smoothie to go along with his breakfast.  Now, we don't have any problem getting fruits in this little man's belly, but this is something different and fun.  Since we seem to do it a lot, I thought I should share it with the blog.

When it's smoothie-time, we grab some fresh or frozen fruit, juice, yogurt, milk...whatever looks like it might be tasty...and blitz it to oblivion with the stick blender while M holds his hands over his ears.  Bananas, strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries are M's favorite fruits to choose to incorporate, but we certainly don't limit ourselves to just that.  & what a great way to use up the fruit that might be close to being overripe.  We don't like ice in our smoothies and the straw will stand up on its own when we're finished, but they are refreshing, delicious, and a sweet way to start the day.  You could say that Mommy and daddy like smoothie days too.

Really, M loves smoothies so much, I might just try to slip a green vegetable in there!  Oh...the horror!!!

Booo...

...for the rain that is spoiling our outdoor activities today.

We were supposed to be the cheering section for daddy, Bobbi and Uncle Gabe during their race this morning, but mother nature appeared to have other plans.  Luckily, they all did great without us.

soaking wet...but still smiling!

Good things for good people...

Nothing makes me happier than to see my friends, well...happy.  Yesterday was great for this very reason.  A good friend of mine closed on a house after a long, often discouraging, journey.  I know she's filled with anxiety and disbelief, but it's theirs, and now she gets to make that house a home for her family.  & that's all she's ever wanted out of this.  Melissa, thank you for letting us be a part of the excitement that surrounds this life changing event.  Now, to think of the perfect housewarming gift...

I think M is excited Pie has a new house too!

Crown me Do-mestic Goddess

Andrew bought my anniversary gift today...and oh.my.god...it's a vacuum.  A Dyson DC24 Blueprint Limited Edition vacuum, people.  Before you all roll your eyes and say, "Oh, Andrew...", I am actually incredibly excited about this.  These cats plus our hardwood floors is a recipe for my insanity.  Thanks to woot.com and a fantastic deal, I expect that to improve with the addition of this vacuum to our cleaning closet.

Take a look...

...and look what else it does!  It looks like R2D2, or a transformer.

Is it wrong for me to be this excited about this purchase?  Probably, but my floors are going to be soooo clean...
