heading west

Mom and I just got back from Colorado...specifically, Woodland Park/Colorado Springs, to visit Aunt Christie. We hadn't seen her for close to four years, so we were overdue to say the least. Where we were you pretty much had mountains on all sides, with a great view of Pikes Peak from our hotel.

A big part of the trip was to learn how and where Aunt Christie spends her days, so we had to visit her restaurant.

The next day we trekked up to Cripple Creek, elevation 10,000 feet. Let's just say the elevation was noticeable. Anyway, Cripple Creek is an old gold mining town with resident donkeys, museums, and some of the most delicious fudge.

Saturday started with a yoga hike at the Florissant Fossil Beds. Again, with the scenery! Everywhere you looked was a beautiful view. After the first short hike, the three of us set out on a longer one.

We stopped halfway to have lunch. I'm sure I haven't lunched anywhere this beautiful before.

Manitou Springs on Sunday to finish our fun. This is the place where The Incline sits. We did not attempt it, but the shops, penny arcade, and ice cream made up for it.

The main goal of this vacation was not to sight see, though the sights were most definitely worth seeing, but to catch up and reconnect with family. We did just that.
